living+kitchen+dining

Structural elements tie the exterior addition and interior space together. Dynamic linear qualities between different visual planes create specific experiences within individual spaces while acting as one space. Flexibility becomes an important component when considering different inhabitants occupy the space over time. Spatial allotments allow many furniture arrangements and personalization to happen within the living area. Linear planes and work surfaces tie each space together and begin to create an ambiguous nature of where one area begins and ends. Accessibility to work surfaces from different locations leaves room for many options of how the space can function. Complementary color schemes tie the spaces together and creates visual interest between furnishings and structural elements. One design element found in the dining space is the use of louvers to connect spaces with walls rather than block them. Visual and verbal communication can still happen between different areas, while allowing a more private dining area from the kitchen and living areas. Revealing of layers can be seen here in all the components relationships to one another and their specific functions.
