Due to the programmatic needs of the apartments several key spaces were needed in order to accommodate many lifestyles. The rooms on the left hand side of the building have no windows on the exterior shell due to another building sitting next to this one. Therefore on the third floor apartment a skylight could be incorporated into the design and transoms above hallway doors, allowing the most natural light possible into these rooms. At night the hallway light would also wash into these spaces giving them a glow. In the hallway, functional and aesthetic layers come together creating a space with visual interest. Hallways are usually plain and mundane, but here details and highlights of connections give visual interest.
