codes charrette

Codes influence greatly the design of a project. Ergonomics, egress, fire suppression, circulation, ADA, universal design ideas, materiality, etc. have a great impact on the selections and design decisions implemented in the project. A code charrette with time restrictions provided the opportunity to look at crucial problems with the existing building and figure out how solutions would be created to make this building function better both holistically and code wise. Egress, ergonomics, and circulation became key factors for the project. Spatial arrangements, materials, and functional spaces and objects were integrated in a way that best met these requirements and circumstances. Apartments have a great variety of inhabitants and thus much consideration went into designing an environment conducive to functions for a wide variety of uses.
