building connector

Initial ideas of the connector between the Imperial Hotel (neighboring building with elevator for access to Sharp Building) and the Sharp Building became an amalgamation of colonial, victorian, and simple vernacular. Realizing there was more to this project than just making a connector, the exterior/outdoor living space was developed. This development allowed proper circulation and egress, while incorporating another dimension and extension of the project. Using materials in keeping with surrounding architecture was a fundamental aspect of the addition. Looking at the final outdoor space reveals what the project became on the outside and its better intentions of incorporating the new with the old built environment of the town.
